Thanks to operations which are innovative for Ukraine, PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya brought the well back from idling well stock in Poltava region that provides a quarter-million daily debit currently.
Since early 2017, one of PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya wells in Poltava region has been in the idling well stock, that is, the company has not extracted gas from it at all.
After careful examination of the geological and technical data of the well, PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya experts, in particular, geologists and reservoir engineers decided to clean the well and install the cement plug using coil tubing with the subsequent perforation of the overlying beds.
During the well cleaning, there have been made milling with bottom hole motor and well flushing with multicomponent modified polyacrylamide-based solvent (produced in Ukraine) which was specially developed by the request of PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya experts.
To install the cement plug using coil tubing unit, mortar with longer initial setting time was used. The said mortar was developed by another Ukrainian company considering the exact operating conditions of the well. Moreover, in order to provide the required strength and impermeability of the cement stone, micro cement and additives were introduced in the compound to create the expansion effect during the setting.
One of the vital elements for the success of this project was also the synergy and operational work of all services of the contractor and the customer, in particular, geophysical exploration department which was responsible for hardware check of operations in the well.
The whole process lasted 5 days, which is considerably faster than the conventional method with the use of well workover rig.
The experience gained makes it possible to bring the exploitation of many wells back without the use of well workover rigs and reduce the period for repair and isolation operations during the conventional major workovers.
Thus, the production needs of PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya have prompted the Ukrainian service companies to take decisive actions towards the introduction of cutting-edge international approaches for well workover and the development of domestic technologies to achieve energy dependence of our state.
