Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC, being a part of Naftogaz Group, has commissioned a new exploration well with total depth of 5800 m; its current flow rate is 580 tcmpd.
"This is one of the most high-producing wells commissioned by Ukrgasvydobuvannya in recent years. Moreover, it discovered the perspectives of a previously unexplored block on one of the fields in the east of the country. It is estimated that prospective gas resources of this block exceed 6 billion cubic meters. Currently, two more new wells: a prospecting and an exploration well, are prepared for drilling in this block", – Oleksiy Chernyshov, CEO of the Naftogaz Group, said.
The field has significant prospects and at the same time its geological structure has blocky nature and is heavily complicated by deep faults. The discovered gas deposits are located in a high-temperature section with abnormally high formation pressures.
Due to the lack of technology, previously it was impossible to develop prospective deposits of this field at such considerable depths.
"Recently, we conducted modern 3D seismic exploration there, which made it possible to design this exploration well. The well has a complicated directional profile. Having it drilled and explored was a real challenge for the team of geologists, drillers and geophysicists, which they successfully accomplished. We will continue further work on unlocking the potential of this block," – Oleg Tolmachev, Acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya, said.
The drilling was carried out by the drilling crew of Shebelynske Drilling Unit at the Ukrburgaz Drilling Department with the involvement of experts from the LIKVO specialized emergency rescue service. Geophysical studies were conducted by specialists of the Ukrgazpromgeofizyka Geophysical Department and Weatherford Ukraine, LLC.
