Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC, a part of the Naftogaz Group, has started pilot operation of a new Bee-UGV software package, specially designed for collecting data from energy metering units (natural gas, liquid hydrocarbons, electricity) and for calculating the amount of natural gas in energy units (kWh).
Calculating gas volumes in energy units is used almost all over the world. In Ukraine, gas volumes are still calculated in cubic meters, but this method of accounting does not take into account fuel caloric content. The transition to energy units will become mandatory starting from May 1, 2022 (in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine No.1850-IX dated 02.11.2021 "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding introduction of accounting and calculations on gas volume in energy units on the natural gas market"). The software comissioned will allow to take into account not only gas volume, but also its quantity in energy units.
"A clear, transparent, unified energy accounting system is one of the key tasks facing all entities of the Naftogaz Group. By putting into operation a state-of-the-art software product, Ukrgasvydobuvannya confirms its readiness for systematic work under new conditions, in particular, for transition to accounting for natural gas in energy units," Yuriy Vitrenko, Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC Chairman of the Management Board, said.
The new software will also make it possible to quickly receive and analyze information from automated metering units for natural gas, oil and gas condensate, reservoir water, electricity, flow and laboratory devices for determining physical and chemical parameters of natural gas, calorific value and moisture content, etc.
Additional functions that the new Ukrgasvydobuvannya energy accounting software package allows to perform:
- - Bringing the volume of natural gas to new standard conditions (in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine No. 1974-IX "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on ensuring transparency in the extractive industries").
- - Storage of received and calculated information in a single database.
- - Automatic information transfer to other systems (such as SCADA, MES, and ERP (SAP)).
- - Conducting operational calculations of gas consumption using two measurement methods.
- - Quick selection of statistical data for specific accounting node and calculation of production and technological losses for it.
- - Automatic files generation of appropriate format for exchange with counterparties and generating reports.
"Pilot operation of the Bee-UGV PC takes place in real working conditions. We check all software components, services, and modules. We perform crash tests for fault tolerance. And now we can say with confidence that the speed of receiving information from metering stations and its processing has increased significantly compared to previous programs," Volodymyr Yurchenko, Head of Accounting and Balance of Natural Gas and Electricity at Ukrgasvydobuvannya, said.
"Until recently, creation of a single software package for data recording and processing from a huge number of devices for various purposes, from different environments and "generations" was considered impossible. But our specialists overcame this stereotype and, thanks to Bee-UGV, combined 3,176 accounting devices into one system. And if necessary, we can track indicators from 100 accounting nodes simultaneously in real time," Serhiy Fedorenko, Ukrgasvydobuvannya Commercial Director, added.
Specialists of Ukrgasvydobuvannya and Gas Transportation R&D Institute (Ukrtransgas JSC) worked on creation of the software package. The collaboration resulted in a unique product that meets all modern requirements.
