JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya has completed the workover of the well at Abazivske field in Poltava region. Its daily production rate increased from almost zero to 98 tcm.
“Abazivske field is one of the most depleted in the company's portfolio. Currently, its remaining reserves are less than 10% of gas originally in place. Our task is to effectively extract these remaining reserves. The well that underwent workover has been operated periodically, and its flow rate was close to 0. However, it gives access to a reservoir with potentially significant gas reserves. The company invested in advanced equipment, which proved successful for the well of interest. “We have done a job of high complexity, applied the latest technologies to improve production efficiency at depleted fields,” said Oleksandr Oleksenko, Director of GPD Poltavagasvydobuvannya.
The workover operations were carried out by own service contractor UGV-SERVICE using an IRI machine with a lifting capacity of 125 tons. After the complete removal of the unserviceable pipes, stimulation and hookup of the well, its daily production rate increased to 98 tcm.
The company continues to explore the field. Currently, the acquired seismic data are being interpreted based on 3D seismic exploration operations. In 2020-2021, WO operations on the field's another 4 wells are planned.
Effective operation and follow-up exploration of known depleted deposits and development of new sites are the main objectives of Ukrgasvydobuvannya's Trident Development Program, due to which the company plans to maintain a natural decline in production, which amounts to 1.5 bcm per annum.
