Ukrgasvydobuvannya has discovered a new field with promising resources of up to 5 bcm

The new Mospanivske field is located in the Kharkiv region. The first exploration well that discovered the field flows at 239 tcmpd. According to preliminary estimates, the field's resources amount to up to 5 bcm.

Exploration results indicate high potential of the field. This is also confirmed by the nearby Volokhivske field, which is already being developed by the company.

"The discovery of the Mospanivske field is a result of a combination of geological expertise and application of modern approaches to exploration. In 2019, we shooted 3D seismic on this site, on the basis of which we built a structural and tectonic model of the area. Than, geologists, using probabilistic methods for estimating resources and modern methods for predicting a trap, determined location and depth of the exploration well. Risks were also assessed using advanced software. As a result of successful drilling, our specialists have a high daily production rate and a new promising asset," Olexander Romanyuk, Director of the Naftogaz Exploration and Production Division, said.

The well was constructed for 4 months (June-October 2021) by Ukrburgaz drilling team, an internal drilling contractor, with involvement of an upgraded 320 tons drilling rig.

The well has a vertical profile and TD of 4,150 m. Now well testing is in progress.

Ukrgasvydobuvannya plans further exploration program at the new field.

As previously reported, the company is systematically working to unlock the potential of new sites. Top-10 areas that have the greatest prospects for increasing Ukrainian gas reserves have been identified. An accelerated exploration program has been developed for them for the next 3 years.

Moreover, Ukrgasvydobuvannya invests in the development of its prospects portfolio. At the end of October 2021, the company acquired new South-Rusanivska area at an electronic auction.
