JSC UkrGasVydobuvannya received commercial gas inflow from the extension well with the capacity of 249 thousand cubic meters/day and discovered new deposit in Kharkiv region.
At the exploration stage, the gas reserves of the discovered deposit are at least 300 million cubic meters, and prospective resources estimated by UkrNDIGas amount to more than 1.500 million cubic meters.
It is worth noting that after obtaining special permit for subsoil use, the deposit discovering and the well bringing into operation were carried out in record time – in 17 calendar months.
“Developing new deposits is a time-taking process that requires consolidation of scientific, engineering and significant financial efforts. Obtaining special permits does not guarantee 100% start of commercially feasible exploitation of the deposit. Moreover, the process is being phased in over time. Therefore, the company is constantly emphasizing the problem of delays in issuing new special permits, which have not been solved for a long time,” said Miron Firman, Director for Geology Issues.
For reference
For JSC UkrGasVydobuvannya the issue of new resource base creation is critical, and its solution must come from the implementation of the 20/20 Strategy objectives. Thus, due to more than 60 refusals to approve special permits only by Poltava regional council for two years, Ukraine will lose 1 billion cubic meter of gas in 2018.
We recall that the period from the license issuance to the commercial development of deposits is usually 2-4 years. It consists of stages such as seismic exploration, exploration drilling, appraisal drilling, and development drilling. Therefore, in case of obtaining new special permits the next gas inflow can be expected not earlier than in 2 years.
