Due to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, liberating our territories, Ukrgasvydobuvannya has regained control over the drilling rigs that were in the occupied territories for about seven months. Most of them, after repairs, have already resumed drilling in the east of Ukraine.

Since the rigs were located in the war zone, they suffered damage of different degrees. Rig sites were also damaged by  the invaders’ looting – some equipment was stolen or simply mutilated.

Ukrgasvydobuvannya specialists, after demining the surrounding areas and permits from the State Emergency Service, restored drilling rigs and associated equipment. Some of the rigs have already been re-commissioned. They continue drilling new wells in the East. In particular, one of the wells has already been completed and is being tested.

"We plan to return all the rigs to service as soon as possible, as it is the drilling of the new wells gives the most significant and sustainable effect for providing the country with domestic Ukrainian gas," Oleksandr Romaniuk, Acting Director General for Ukrgasvydobuvannya said.
