Ukrgasvydobuvannya achieved record drilling performance during the war

Ukrburgaz DD, Ukrgasvydobuvannya’s drilling division, in September 2022 drilled a record 30,222 m. Moreover, in September, drillers set a record for daily footage – 1,504 metres.

This result was achieved in conditions when some of the Company's fields are still temporarily occupied or located in the vicinity of the front line. Therefore, it is impossible to operate them. Moreover, the war led to the limitation of the Company's technical fleet, and significant complication of the supply of goods and services required for works.

"With the outbreak of a full-scale war, we, like many companies, had to suspend most of our production operations. But a month later, along with the success of the troops, we began to actively restore them. Drilling has become a key focus, because the new wells have the greatest effect on compensating for natural decline and increasing hydrocarbon production. In extremely difficult conditions, our drillers, together with other units, show outstanding results even in normal times. This is one of the components, through which we plan to return to the growth of hydrocarbon production next year, interrupted by a full-scale war," Oleksandr Romaniuk, Acting Director General for Ukrgasvydobuvannya said.

Ukrburgaz DD has the largest modern rig fleet in Ukraine. The Company's specialists regularly receive advanced training under international standards. In particular, within the framework of the Drilling School programme, launched by the Company.

"Understanding the importance of Ukrainian domestic gas for the country, Ukrgasvydobuvannya's drillers managed to accumulate their experience and expertise to achieve the maximum possible result. Together with other divisions, we continue to work on improving internal efficiency to introduce technologically new projects that can unblock the potential of Ukrainian subsurface," Ivan Sushynsky, Acting Director for Ukrburgaz summed up.
