JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, part of the Naftogaz Group, in cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will receive 6,000 tons of methanol, a critical raw material for natural gas production, treatment, and transportation. The first batch of methanol has already arrived at the company's warehouses.
"We appreciate the support of international partners at this difficult time for Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we have faced shortages of a large number of materials and equipment for gas production. Since last year, we have been negotiating with companies and agencies from all over the world to ensure the stability of production processes. USAID representatives were among the first to respond to our request. We are grateful to them for this," commented Oleg Tolmachev, Acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.
Methanol is a critical material for hydrocarbons production. Ukrgasvydobuvannya currently needs as much as 28,000 tons of methanol per year. It is used to control and prevent hydrate formation in gas pipelines during gas production and transportation, as well as to test new wells and existing wells after workovers.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukrgasvydobuvannya has completely switched to methanol procurement from European suppliers. USAID assistance will make it possible to develop a strategic reserve and ensure uninterrupted production until the end of the heating season.
