Occupational drilling standard developed on the initiative of Ukrgasvydobuvannya began to be applied in the industry


The National Qualifications Agency has included the Occupational standard for "Drilling specialists", developed on the initiative of Ukrgasvydobuvannya, to the State Register of qualifications. From now on, the Standard is mandatory for use when determining the requirements for the qualifications of employees in the drilling domain.

The next step will be to update and develop educational standards in the areas specified in the Occupational standard (this activity will be carried out by commissions and working groups at the Ministry of Education with the participation of representatives of Ukrgasvydobuvannya):

  • ● driller of exploration and development wells for oil and gas production;
  • ● assistant driller of exploration and development wells for oil and gas production;
  • ● drilling engineer (drilling operations);
  • ● drilling process engineer.

"It is important that after graduating from their universities the young specialists – drilling engineers and process engineers – have the most important knowledge and skills essential for us as an employer. In this respect Ukrgasvydobuvannya takes a proactive position – we have initiated the development and implementation of the relevant occupational standard, which should improve the quality of specialized education. I am grateful to everyone who were involved in this long and diligent work," - Maryna Petrenko, HR Director of Ukrgasvydobuvannya, said.

Development and implementation of standards is carried out by a working group with the participation of Ukrgasvydobuvannya representatives and other stakeholders:

  • ● All-Ukrainian Industry Association Federation of Employers in Oil and Gas Industry";
  • ● Ukrgasvydobuvannya Joint Trade Union of and the Central Council of the Trade Union of Oil and Gas Industry Workers of Ukraine;
  • ● Union of drillers of Ukraine public organization;
  • ● Beiken Energy Ukraine, LLC;
  • ● Poltava Drilling Company, LLC;
  • ● Ivano-Frankivsk Technical Oil and Gas University;
  • ● Drohobych Professional Oil and Gas College;
  • ● National Poltava Polytechnic University named after Yu. Kondratyuk;
  • ● National Dnipro Polytechnic University;
  • ● Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy named after O.M. Beketov.
