The Development Energy Grant Competition aims to support social initiatives of communities. The competition will motivate communities to step up their efforts to find solutions to their problems. Fifty winners will receive up to UAH 100 thous. each for the implementation of their projects. The competition will be held throughout 2021. During the spring, community representatives will gain knowledge on the preparation and implementation of projects to be implemented by the end of autumn. The educational partner of the competition is the Institute for Partnership and Sustainable Development, with which a memorandum of cooperation was signed.
The competition will be held among 242 communities from 11 regions of Ukraine where Ukrgasvydobuvannya (Naftogaz Group) produces gas.
The competition aims to give communities knowledge and skills that will help them develop and implement social projects not only within the competition, but also as part of their daily routine. Community representatives will gain knowledge in sustainable development, project management, fundraising, financial management, financial planning, etc. The projects will be focused on the quality of education, healthy lifestyle and development of community's infrastructure.
“The communities in which we operate are partners of our company. Therefore, it is important for us that they develop and gain new knowledge that will raise their living standards. This grant competition aims to obtain quality, ready-to-implement, up-to-date and relevant social projects from communities. Every year we improve our joint efforts with communities and find new areas of cooperation,” said Vitaliy Chudak, Head of the Regional Development Projects Department of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya (Naftogaz Group).
The Development Energy Competition will include several stages, which are in line with the key UN Sustainable Development Goals for Naftogaz and the Institute for Partnership and Sustainable Development:
Goal 3. Good health and well-being.
Goal 4. Quality education.
Goal 11. Sustainable development of cities and communities.
Goal 17. Partnership for sustainable development.
“We highly appreciate Naftogaz's initiative. This project brings communities and businesses together, deepens their cooperation and aims to achieve a common goal. For our part, we will do our best to develop the competencies of community representatives on the way to implement projects that are essential to them. The first educational modules will begin in March to help communities properly plan efforts on their initiatives,” said Daria Mustafina, founder and head of the Institute for Partnership and Sustainable Development, project management and fundraising expert.
