Roman Opimakh, the Head of the Public Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, and Oleh Syniehubov, the Head of Poltava Region State Administration, have familiarized with the new well drilling process in Opishnya field.
In the conditions of significant depletion of the main fields, Ukrgasvydobuvannya increases the production performance in the available deposits. The Company is very careful in geological risk assessment and selection of sites for new well drilling.
Opishnya field is one of the largest, but its depletion reaches 73%, seismic surveys were conducted in the area to get the maximum result. A new well is designed based on the obtained results, and it is intended for additional exploration of reserves in the relevant deposits.
“The gas production companies demonstrate high-grade results in the available fields. However, we are working to enhance this result with additional production volumes from new blocks. A new era in oil and gas auctions started this year. The transparent mechanism of acquisition of special permits provides new opportunities with the incremental production from new blocks for domestic companies," Roman Opimakh pointed out.
Oleh Syniehubov, in his turn, said, "Gas production is one of the most important industries for the Poltava region. Both the authority and the citizens are interested in incremental own production and partnership with gas companies. The visual introduction with the production process makes it possibly better to understand our common problems and find the decisions that will provide for the gas production development and energy independence of the state."
On the drilling site, the visitors familiarized themselves with a new machine by Bentec, Germany. The specialists of Ukrgasvydobuvannya told about the planned works. Note that the well is inclined-oriented, and namely, the reach of 293 m will be made at the final stage of drilling. Such operations need modern equipment and high-qualified specialists.
Additional information
Opishnya oil and gas condensate field located in the territory of Zinkiv and Kotelevka districts of Poltava region was put into operation in 1972.
According to the international rating system, as of 01/01/2019, the proven hydrocarbon reserves make 4.133 bln. cub.m of gas and 26 ths.t of gas condensate.
Starting from the operation of the field, Ukrgasvydobuvannya has produced over 22 bln. cub.m of gas that makes 73% of balance reserves.
Today, the Company proceeds the additional exploration of deposits. From the beginning of the year, two wells with a total daily yield of 140 ths.cub.m were put into operation in the field, the exploration well is being drilled, and preparation for the operation well drilling is being performed. The daily gas extraction from the area makes 752.8 ths.cub.m of gas.
