Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC is launching a Security In Action social project together with the Institute of Partnership and Sustainable Development and Juvenile Prevention of the National Police. Within its framework, over 8,000 children in 35 territorial communities of Ukraine will be taught how to behave safer in the dark.
The main part of the project is educational lectures for students in grades 1-3 to be held by Juvenile Prevention officers of the National Police. Children will also receive sets of light-reflective elements that will make them better visible on the roads.
"The project is being implemented on the initiative of Ukrgasvydobuvannya in the communities of our Company presence. As part of the Social Responsibility Program, we make sure that life in these territories is as comfortable and safe as possible. Due to the destruction of critical infrastructure and periodic blackouts, improving the safety of children in dark conditions has become an urgent issue. Together with the National Police, we want to help solve it, first, focusing on the educational component," Vitaliy Chudak, Head of the Land and Communities Relations Department at Ukrgasvydobuvannya, says.
"The priorities of the National Police of Ukraine include the safety of children and adults. Therefore, we have joined the Safety In Action project. After all, for the safety of pedestrians, Juvenile Police officers regularly conduct preventive lessons, conversations, flash mobs on strict compliance with traffic rules, and reminders of the reflective elements' importance. Master-classes for children on making light-reflective key-chains are also held. During such classes police officers talk about the importance of their use," Vasyl Bohdan, Head of the Juvenile Prevention Department, comments.
"This is not the first project we are implementing together with Ukrgasvydobuvannya. Working with communities, our organization always sets the task of contributing to creating capable communities in Ukraine. Security is the foundation of community well-being and development. Over the past six months, the problem of road accidents in the dark, when children are returning from school, and the streetlights are off, has become particularly acute. Security In Action project was created to strengthen security and further develop communities. Thousands of children in communities will get acquainted with the basic rules of road safety and receive reflective bracelets, which will be a significant contribution to the personal safety of children and road safety in general," Daria Mustafina, Director of the Institute of Partnership and Sustainable Development, noted.
In 2021, Ukrgasvydobuvannya funded 180 social and infrastructure regional projects for over UAH 34 million. It provided grants to communities for the equipment of schools, outpatient clinics, sports, and outdoor activities grounds, etc. In 2022, Ukrgasvydobuvannya made efforts to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the total amount of assistance reached about UAH 870 million.
